As we prepare for the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday, March 2nd, I am finding myself gaining optimism about the trend as we are seeing more people attending church and getting involved with various church events and meetings.  I can feel the energy coming back and I hope we can all continue to regather in the coming months.  

We will have our next event as a parish group when we have the mid-lent brunch on March 20th and then the spring rummage sale on April 1st and 2nd.  Our Vestry commissions are setting up regular meetings in the coming months, so a lot of new communications and events will be coming.  

Embrace the energy - after two years of largely virtual interaction, we will be able to begin more in-person opportunities to fulfill our mission as a Christian fellowship.

As promised, life finds a way through the cold winter, as a new crop of garlic begins to emerge, the first signs of Season 8 growth at our Ross Farm Giving Garden.  Stay tuned over the coming weeks for info on volunteer opportunities at the garden.  If you would like to be an active member of our garden volunteer list, please contact Jan Williams at rjwillia16@gmail.com.”

This month we will be able to gather during the Lenten season for a Mid-Lent Brunch on March 20th. Many of you contributed and enjoyed the Advent Brunch. We hope with the numbers of Covid cases trending downward and people venturing outside more parishioners will be able to join us after the 10am service. Separate tables are set up in the parish hall where you can sit with your “pod” of people. The brunch is a wonderful time to enjoy time with good food and fellowship. If you are able to contribute something to the meal that is wonderful, but not required. Also, the Grub Club is starting up again so please look for the sign-up sheet on the website and additional information posted in the Weekly Roar.

It is TIME to start putting your CAN creation together.  We changed it up a little as we have more organizations (local churches and others) interested in participating. We are moving beyond a St. Marks only event to a County Wide event.  The idea is that each organization will submit their “winning sculpture” by March 10th to the Judges led up by the former director of the Somerset County Food Bank and several architects.  This means that St. Marks will need to have OUR winner—and therefore our county-wide entrant picked by March 9th.  So get going and start building.  You can build your sculpture at home or in the church.  If you build at home send in a photo to the church office.  Include the approximate number and size of cans and take at least one photo to include the builders.  

In church, builds will happen the week of Feb 27^th in the large classroom downstairs. Reserve a space by contacting the office, you can build on the floor or on one of the tables.  All entries must be completed by Saturday March 5^th as the Youth Group will select the St. Marks winner to enter into the county wide contest on Sunday March 6^th.

Did you miss out on participating in Grub Club at the end of the summer? If so, now is your chance to sign up for the second round! Grub Club is open to all adults in the church who are interested in seeing old friends or meeting new friends. Each group will gather to share a meal together on a monthly basis from April through July.

Please sign up below if you are interested in being part of the second round of Grub Club. Groups will consist of about 6-8 people. Please sign up by March 20th.
