This is my first entry in the Lion’s Roar as your Junior Warden. It has been over 3 months since I took over this new role and it has been an honor to work directly with Fr. Rick and Jeff West. This year comes with the primary challenge of working to get our parish back to as normal as possible and due to the leadership of Fr. Rick and the Vestry, we are off to a great start. We had outdoor services for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday under rented tents in the parking lot. With the help of so many people, led by Jan Williams and Addie Sant Foster, beautiful plants were provided to make the services amazing. We are now going to work toward more outdoor services at Harry Dunham Park (the first one will be Mother’s Day, May 9th) to give our parishioners an opportunity to be able to participate in person again. In spite of COVID protocols, St. Marks has continued to perform outreach activities (John Lyga’s Canstruction contest was a big success and created an opportunity to make large food contributions to local food banks) and fellowship events (Sandy Gogerty organized a fun walk at Jockey Hollow in March and we have had a couple virtual coffee hours to connect after services) - examples of the vibrancy of our church family during this crisis.
This parish family has also really stepped up to keep our financial house in great shape with greater than planned pledge and donation income through the first quarter of the year. This will enable us to make investments that will help us to keep our building and grounds in good condition. If all else works out, we will also be able to restart the semi-annual rummage sale this coming Fall which has become a critical fundraiser for St. Marks as well as a valuable source of support for our community.
This has also been a sad first three months of the year with the passing of former Wardens, Chip Hughes and Don Kress. I follow in the footsteps of these two incredible leaders, human beings and Christians who have done great things to make our church a better place for all of us to be a part of. My remaining tenure as a Warden will be dedicated to try to make a mark on this place we call our home as much as Chip and Don did - may they both rest in peace.

Fresh flowers are always a welcome site on Sunday mornings. Please contact the office if you would like to dedicate altar flowers in memory or celebration of a loved one.
Mindfulness & More
Hello St. Mark’s friends. I’m Christine, parishioner, holistic health coach, and yoga teacher (right here in our own parish hall). If you are interested in taking a yoga class, reach out to me or the church office.
Did you know I offer Midday Mindfulness each Thursday on the St Mark’s Facebook page? Stop by and check it out! This past visit, we explored one idea on how to manage feelings of overwhelm and gave a gentle stretch to our spines and last week we discovered stress relief and mindfulness options we can use in the car. It’s a 15-minute investment that can yield greater peace, release tension, and maybe even make you smile. Recordings are also available on our website and YouTube.
